Open-cell metal foam is a porous aluminum alloy material with an interconnected network of cells — similar in structure to a sponge but made entirely of metal. Air passes through this tortuous network of fine metal strands, and particulate matter (dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke particles) is captured by impaction and interception onto the metal surfaces.
